Reporting of Hate Crime for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual & Transgender
Community in Lambeth. If you are the victim of hate crime or hate
incidents you should report it.
Reports can be made direct to the Police via the LGBT Helpline or
through the new Metropolitan police hate crime reporting web site.

Lambeth Police LGBT Liaison Team
Pc Eren Bessim is based at Brixton and his role is to develop strategic
links with other agencies, such as Lambeth Council, Terrenace Higgins
Trust, Galop and other agencies. He also build links in Venue owners
and puts together multi partnership events across Lambeth. He also
Makes ure that Lambeth are reaching out to every LGBT person, whether
a resident, visitor or student or even someone that wroks in Lambeth
are able to have equal access to the services and support the Lambeth
officers. Lambeth have over 12 LGBT liaison officers and one full
time liaison officer, PC Angel Ogden who is based at Kennington Police
Station. PC Bessim works with them closely giving their support to
victims who do attend or phone through to him.
Among the work done by the LGBT Liaison Team is:
- Regular drug-awareness patrols at LGBT venues across the borough,
in partnership with Terrence Higgins Trust
- Uniformed patrols of Vauxhall Cross 'Gay Village' during weekends,
and other venues across the borough
- Engage with local service providers to ensure a strategic consideration
of LGBT matters
- Support local groups such as the LGBT Forum, Vauxhall Gay Business
Forum (VGBF), NRG Youth Group and UKC
- Review reports of homophobic and transphobic crimes and reports
and support the investigations by the specialist Community Safety
Unit (CSU)
- Give training input to new officers to the borough

Station and PC Angel Odgen’s main role is to be visible through

Lambeth Hate Crime Coordinator
Yvonne Okiyo is the Borough’s Hate Crime Coordinator. Part
of her remit includes working with the LGBT population and service
providers, making Lambeth safe for LGBT people, improving service
provision for victims and witnesses of LGBT hate crime, providing
support and advice to victims/witnesses of LGBT hate crime and receiving
reports form victims/witnesses of LGBT hate incidents/crimes.
